Graphics-wise it was also one of the most impressive games I've played recently. That being said I was never bored and I found the story to be very gripping. Gore-wise the Outlast games are a lot worse than this.įinally if you're expecting a full-on horror game you will probably be disappointed as it's more of a slow burn psychological thriller with moments of gruesome horror sprinkled throughout. To be clear the game does deal heavily with triggers like child abuse and self harm (and the game provides warnings) but one review indicated the game is worse than films like Martyrs and its really not. It is obviously horrific but people have said "The game where you cut off a woman's face" and act like it's some interactive snuff film about torturing women which couldn't be farther from the truth.
For example there's a nightmare sequence where you have to cut off your dead sister's face and wear it to symbolize how you're taking on her identity.
I recently played it and while it does have some gruesome and disturbing scenes, I do think a lot of people have made it to out to be a lot worse than it actually is. This has been getting quite a lot of attention as it's a horror game that is apparently so horrific Sony censored it.
